John McCain. Your Cardinal is suspected by the perspicacious Mr. Kaus of being in cahoots with this well entrenched conspiracy. Humbug! Your Cardinal is in the tank for none other than the Glory of the French State. We call it as we see it and have advanced possible winning scenarios for Huckabee, Rudy, and Romney. We’re still trying to come up with one for Fred Thompson. As for the speculation regarding the identity of your Cardinal, all I can say is there’s a good chuckle here at the Cathedral every time we hear the latest guess. I’d elaborate, but I have to get back to organizing my large collection of books about the McKinley administration. Meanwhile three of the last four public polls in New Hampshire show McCain pulling within 3 points or closer to frontrunner Mitt Romney. The fourth poll has Romney 7 points ahead. Not bad for a non-existent surge being foisted upon innocent journalists by deceptive agents of a McCain Comintern. Merry Christmas.
