Conservative author and commentator Michael Knowles was assaulted by a protester while giving a lecture at the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus on behalf of Young Americans for Freedom.
The Thursday event was called “A Night with Michael Knowles,” and the topic of the lecture was “men are not women.” Knowles was lamenting the identity politics peddled by many progressives, which he says has cheapened higher education.

“There is a course being taught right now at an American university on angry white men. When I look at who’s angry, I’m not so sure,” said Knowles, 29, a Yale University graduate. But protesters then interrupted Knowles, calling his rhetoric divisive and hateful.
“I know, I seem so hateful. You guys seem so lovely and sweet,” he responded.
A female protester threw some kind of liquid substance, which Knowles assumed some milk or paint, which resulted in law enforcement officials tackling her to the floor and arresting her. One officer appears to use a stun gun against the protester. The protester has been identified as a UMKC student.

As the protester was arrested, others began shouting “hands up don’t shoot!” Other law enforcement officials pushed the rest of the protesters out of the room before Knowles resumed his lecture.
Outside of the venue, protesters held signs outside that said: “Trans rights are human rights,” “Respect my existence,” and “Trans men are men,” according to Twitter users on campus Thursday night.
Knowles said after the event via Twitter that law enforcement officials told him the substance thrown at him by the protester was bleach.
A student tried to squirt bleach on me during my speech tonight. Lucky for me we was a left-winger and couldn’t even shoot a squirt gun! pic.twitter.com/VHKS4hD4vW
