When Pauly Shore took the stage at the 9:30 Club Saturday night, he wasn’t sporting a curly fro or stoner threads. The man known for movies like “Jury Duty” and “Bio-dome” was there to talk politics, and, dressed in a full suit, he looked the part.
“I know a lot of people came here to see if I was still alive,” he joked. The two-hour show included topics like Monica Lewinsky, Hillary Clinton, Shore’s platform if he ran for president, and a rap entitled “Obama Got Osama.”
The show, dubbed “Pauly-tics,” was filmed and will air on Showtime in November. Shore was joined by comedians Sandy Danto, Godfrey, and D.C. local Rachel Feinstein.
Feinstein liked seeing Shore’s goofy, self-effacing style applied to serious political material. Plus, his set gave her a rush of ’90s nostalgia. “He was off the chain when we grew up with him on MTV,” she said.
