Billionaire 2020 presidential candidate Tom Steyer accused President Trump of committing atrocities against immigrants through brutal and illegal policies.
“He’s not opposed to immigration. He’s opposed to immigration by nonwhite people,” Steyer told C-SPAN Tuesday. “And under those rules, he has inflamed his supporters. He’s committed crimes under international law. But he has also tortured children, and he has committed crimes against humanity.”

Steyer did not elaborate on what laws were specifically broken or cite examples of children being tortured under the Trump administration.
The presidential hopeful did go on to say that he would like to “go back to a lot of the Obama-era policies.”
Steyer has seen a boost in polling over the last few weeks and qualified for the latest Democratic debate earlier this month. A recent poll put him in second place in the key state of South Carolina behind former vice-president Joe Biden.
The Iowa caucuses are set to take place on Monday, Feb. 3. Many are expecting a tight race between Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
