Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ staff hit back Tuesday at disparaging claims made about her by fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman.
The former reality TV star’s controversial tell-all claims that President Trump calls her “Ditzy DeVos” behind her back.
“This disgraced former White House employee is peddling lies for profit. The book is a joke, as are the false claims she’s making about Secretary DeVos,” Liz Hill, press secretary to DeVos, said in statement.
In her memoir “Unhinged,” Manigault Newman tears into DeVos for being “woefully inadequate and not equipped for her job,” alleging Trump said he would “get rid of her” after graduating students and their parents turned their backs or walked out on her 2017 commencement address at Florida’s Bethune-Cookman University.
Manigault Newman repeated accusations during an appearance on MSNBC Tuesday that Trump referred to DeVos as “Ditzy DeVos.”
“Anyone who was in his world, because of his small ability to communicate, he would give them these derogatory nicknames and it just wasn’t appropriate,” she said during the interview.
