New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will lead Donald Trump’s transition into the White House if the presumptive Republican presidential nominee secures the presidency come November, the Trump campaign announced Monday.
“Gov. Christie is an extremely knowledgeable and loyal person with the tools and resources to put together an unparalleled Transition Team, one that will be prepared to take over the White House when we win in November,” Trump said in a statement.
Christie, who endorsed Trump after ending his own presidential bid and has been floated as a potential running mate for the billionaire, will serve as Trump’s “Transition Team Chairman.” He will lead a team of political professionals as they begin to vet individuals for the executive branch and cabinet positions.
“I am honored by the confidence being placed in me by Mr. Trump and look forward to putting together a first-rate team to assemble an administration to help best serve the president-elect and the nation,” Christie said.
