ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) — A transmission loop that provides the Roswell area with electricity will be getting a major upgrade now that Xcel Energy has finalized its plans.

The provider says work on the second phase of the $30 million project is expected to start in 2017 with the installation of a 115 kilovolt line. The new transmission line will replace a smaller one that runs south of Roswell.
