Monica Ricci of HGTV?s “Mission: Organization” created storage space out of thin air for the Beazer Homes in Baltimore. The organization guru added pet care centers with doggy bathtubs, second-floor cleaning closets with outlets for small vacuums and other innovative features in the homes at the Parke at Mount Washington and Quarry Lake at Greenspring.
How can we stay organized?
Pay attention to what you allow to come into your space and have a simple system to keep things moving through life. When things come in and never leave, you find yourself buriedquickly. Staying on track is easier than getting on track. Getting organized is not an event, it?s a lifelong process. The less maintenance a system requires, the easier it is to stay organized.
What?s the attack plan for cleaning a disastrously messy room?
First begin by sorting out those things that are no longer giving value versus the things you?re using on regular basis. You don?t want to spend time organizing items that don?t serve you in your life. Second, create families or group items into their natural categories. Third, figure out where each family should live. Four, when you pull something out, put it back. It?s a consistent cycle of maintaining that keeps life organized.
What?s one of the driving concepts behind your designs?
Improving the storage space. Over the past years, houses are getting bigger and bigger but the storage space isn?t. One of my biggest pushes was to put in more storage and place it closer to where it?s used and scatter it throughout the house
