Music superstar Kanye West talked about his support for President Trump in a recent interview and said he wanted to bring the manufacturing for his Yeezy shoes to the United States.
“Give me some other examples where someone is saying what isn’t culturally what you’re supposed to say,” he said in an interview Thursday regarding why he supports Trump and wears a MAGA hat. “Give me an example where someone is saying what you’re not supposed to say. You don’t want to say it, do you, liberal?”
West, 43, said he planned on moving his shoe factories within the next couple of years to help bring jobs back to the U.S.
“For me, as a founder, it’s really important to bring these jobs back to America,” he said. West said he plans to have his shoes in American factories within the next two years and for Yeezy to hire U.S. workers in prison reform systems.
The announcement comes hours before West’s new album Jesus is King is set to drop. The artist has voiced support for the president in the past, saying it was a form of “mental slavery” to base votes on skin color.
“That’s the Republican Party that freed the slaves,” West said earlier this month at one of his Sunday Service session. “You black, so you can’t like Trump? I ain’t never made a decision only based on my color. That’s a form of slavery, mental slavery.”
West visited the White House last fall where he talked to the president on a variety of topics.
