One of the two New York Times reporters behind the much-maligned article detailing a new accusation of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh acknowledged that she knew the Supreme Court justice in college.
Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly adapted a story from their upcoming book for an article in the New York Times about Kavanaugh. The piece, which was published on Saturday, alleged that one of Kavanaugh’s classmates at Yale University said he made inappropriate sexual contact with a female student. However, the article failed to mention that the female student who was the alleged victim has no recollection of the supposed event and declined to be interviewed.
Pogrebin appeared on WMAL’s “Mornings on the Mall” to discuss the omitted details Tuesday morning, and she acknowledged that she and Kavanaugh were both in Yale University’s class of 1987.
“I was in Brett’s class at Yale,” she admitted. “It didn’t influence it. We weren’t friends. I knew him to kind of say hello.”

Pogrebin went on to say, “I had varsity athletes as roommates, and he hung with kind of an athletic crowd, and so, we overlapped to that extent.” She said it did help her reach out to people for the book.
The New York Times‘ article failed to acknowledge the connection between Pogrebin and Kavanaugh.
Back when the first allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh came out about a year ago, Pogrebin and Kelly appeared on the New York Times’ podcast “The Daily.”
In the episode, which aired on Oct. 2, 2018, Pogrebin acknowledged they were classmates, said she was “in his freshman year dorm,” and that she “has a vague memory of him.” Kelly also revealed she grew up in the Washington, D.C., area and went to a private all-girls school that was similar to Kavanaugh’s. However, she acknowledged that the two schools have not been linked.
