Obama weighs in on Md. race with new ad

President Obama implores Marylanders to re-elect Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley in a new radio ad to begin airing Tuesday in the Baltimore area and next week in the Washington region.

Obama plays on O’Malley’s theme of “moving Maryland forward” and warns voters that supporting the Democrat’s opponent, former Maryland governor Bob Ehrlich, would be a “slip backwards.”

The president stresses job creation and education funding as O’Malley’s strong points and closes saying “So, stand with me, Barack Obama, in moving Maryland forward with my friend, Martin O’Malley.”

The 60-second ad was paid for by the O’Malley campaign. The campaign released the ad one day after O’Malley visited the White House to stand with Obama while the president signed the $30 billion bill guaranteeing private lending to small businesses.

The O’Malley campaign says the bill was partially modeled after O’Malley’s loan guarantee program.
