President Trump on Wednesday called the husband of his own counselor Kellyanne Conway a “loser” who is jealous of his wife’s success in his administration.
“George Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife’s success & angry that I, with her help, didn’t give him the job he so desperately wanted,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. “I barely know him but just take a look, a stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!”

The remarks from Trump come just after George Conway, a conservative lawyer and frequent critic of Trump, said he attacks Trump on Twitter so he doesn’t “end up screaming” at his wife.
“It’s so maddening to watch,” Conway told the Washington Post. “The mendacity, the incompetence, it’s just maddening to watch. The tweeting is just the way to get it out of the way, so I can get it off my chest and move on with my life that day. That’s basically it. Frankly, it’s so I don’t end up screaming at her about it.”
Although Trump and his associates have suggested that Conway was either fired, quit, or rejected from a job at the Justice Department, Conway disputes that. He claims that he turned down a position at the agency heading the civil division because of Trump’s attacks on agency leaders and the ouster of FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.
Conway also appeared to take credit for his wife’s success, claiming that he “made it possible” for her to rise to her current position.
“I made it possible for her to be where she is today,” Conway told the Post. “So there’s that. It’s not about jealousy. It’s about reality. Who this man is, and whether he’s fit for public office. Which, as I’ve said, he isn’t.”
Trump called Conway a “total loser” earlier this week, after Conway suggested that the president’s mental health was deteriorating. But Conway dismissed Trump’s rebuke and said it underscored his point.
“I thought it was a perfect example of the point I was making,” Conway said. “He can’t concern himself with affairs of state. He’s more concerned about what people say about him and waging little battles with everyone and everything.”
