Virginia wine is on its way to China — perhaps for the first time.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that Barboursville Vineyards sealed an agreement with a Chinese importer to take its wines to China. The governor’s office is touting the deal as the fruit of the governor’s trade trip to Asia in May and the first commercial transaction in history between a Virginia winery and a Chinese importer.
Barboursville also exports to the U.K. and is one of the largest wineries in Virginia.
