Italian American model, actor, and politician Antonio Sabato Jr. said he plans to open a conservative movie studio after claiming he had been blacklisted in Hollywood for his political beliefs.
“We are putting together a plan to create a conservative movie studio for all patriots to do projects that Hollywood would never do,” Sabato tweeted on Thursday. “No more blacklisting and no more injustice from the socialist’s elites.”
Sabato, who starred in movies in television shows such as General Hospital during his career, is an outspoken supporter of President Trump.
Sabato said earlier this year he feels he has been “blacklisted” by major Hollywood movie producers and studios after voicing support for Trump.
“I had to sell everything,” Sabato told Variety in March. “I had to pay all my debts. I was blacklisted. All my representatives left me, from agents to managers to commercial agents. I literally had to move, find a new job to survive and take care of my kids. It’s been terrible. It’s mind-blowing. It’s a disgrace.”
Conservatives that work in the entertainment industry have for years said they are in the minority in their business.
In 2016, the Hollywood Reporter reported that several people who identified as conservatives told the outlet they are not outspoken about their political beliefs for fear of sparking backlash from colleagues.
“I know a lot of actors who are lying about who they’re going to vote for because they don’t want the crap,” Sabato Jr. said. “They won’t want to be talked about and fired from movie sets. This is serious.”
