Election expert: ‘Fair to assume’ many illegal immigrants will receive mail-in ballots in California because of Gavin Newsom

The director of the Government Accountability Institute believes that it is “fair to assume” many illegal immigrants will receive mail-in ballots in California during the 2020 election.

GAI Director Eric Eggers said in an interview with Breitbart News that the recent executive order by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, sending mail-in ballots to every registered voter, would undoubtedly result in many ballots ending up in the hands of people in the United States illegally.

“Basically, what you’ve got is this hodgepodge of a lack of oversight, lacks regulation, and confusion by the general public,” Eggers said. “And oh, by the way, there’s a global pandemic, so many people are focused on other things at the moment. And so … here come all the ballots, and yes, many of the people that will get the ballots will be legal voters, but many of those ballots will end up somewhere other than in the hands of legal [voters], and that’s exactly where the recipe for fraud can occur.”

Eggers continued: “You’ve got this system where, you know, you’ve got over a million illegal immigrants in California that have driver’s licenses. I think it’s fair to assume that a good number of those inadvertently or intentionally ended up on the voter rolls, and those people are about to be receiving a mail-in ballot.”

Democrats across the country have been pushing for mail-in voting due to the claim that visiting polling places during the coronavirus pandemic is too dangerous.

“The integrity of the election system is central to our democracy,” Pelosi said in late March. “How anyone could oppose our enabling the states to have vote-by-mail raises so many other questions, but let’s just be hopeful and have public opinion weigh in on that.”

Pelosi and fellow House Democrats included $3.6 billion in funding to expand mail-in voting in their latest coronavirus relief package proposal.

Critics of mail-in voting cite the significant evidence of documented voter fraud in the country, along with reports that more than 28 million mail-in ballots have gone missing over the last decade.

“Republicans should fight very hard when it comes to statewide mail-in voting. Democrats are clamoring for it,” President Trump tweeted last month. “Tremendous potential for voter fraud, and for whatever reason, doesn’t work out well for Republicans.”

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla conceded in 2018 that illegal immigrants might have voted in the state but blamed the problem on the Department of Motor Vehicles.
