Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, said on Tuesday the House Intelligence Committee looks “forward to having a chance to speak with Mr. Trump Jr.” regarding his released emails about receiving information on Hillary Clinton from Russians.
“There’s probably more questions about this that these e-mails will raise and we look forward to having a chance to speak with Mr. Trump Jr. about this,” Stewart, who serves on the House Intelligence Committee, said on CNN.
Trump Jr. released an email chain to Twitter on Tuesday in which he had correspondence with Rob Goldstone, who reportedly set up a meeting between Trump Jr. and Russian Lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and offered Trump Jr. dirt on Hillary Clinton.
Stewart said he gives Trump Jr. credit for posting the emails and releasing them to the public so Congress can read them easily, but they’re going to raise more questions.
“This is one of those things the American people are going to wonder about and it’s going to have a lot of unanswered questions, I think, unless he’s willing to come and testify,” Stewart said.
