Biden promises U.S. will send ‘message’ over hacking

Vice President Joe Biden said the United States will be “sending a message” to Russian President Vladimir Putin for allegedly meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

“We have the capacity to do it and the message will be sent. He’ll know it, and it will be at the time of our choosing and under the circumstances that have the greatest impact,” Biden said in an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” released on Friday.

When asked if the public will know a message was sent, Biden replied, “Hope not.”

According to NBC News, the Obama administration is contemplating a possible cyberattack against Russia.

Moscow objected Biden’s suggestion.

“The threats directed against Moscow and our state’s leadership are unprecedented because they are voiced at the level of the U.S. vice president,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying on Saturday.
