Cuomo says he doesn’t use e-mail for NY business

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo (KWOH’-moh) says he doesn’t use a state e-mail account or his private e-mail for state business. Instead, a spokesman says he uses a PIN messaging system from his Blackberry cellphone that leaves no record of the communication.

The governor’s use of electronic messages follows his response to a Freedom of Information Law request by The Associated Press. His counsel states no e-mails from the governor concerning official business exist.

Cuomo is well-known for his extensive use of telephone calls.

State and national-level politicians today rarely conduct business using their own e-mail accounts after several corporate investigations and political scandals hinged on the records.

Cuomo’s use of PIN messages was first reported by the New York Daily News.
