Waiting Kaine to go on…

The dance continues.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine isn’t planning to make a decision on whether to run for Senate until at least next week, according to an official authorized to speak on his behalf.

Kaine is set to attend an event in southwest Virginia honoring former Rep. Rick Boucher this weekend, but won’t be making any news on the Senate race there.

“Rick Boucher is one of Governor Kaine’s closest friends and political allies and he was eager to attend this event honoring him long before there was a Senate vacancy in Virginia,” the official said.

Kaine is reportedly inching closer toward running for the seat to be vacated by Sen. Jim Webb. Top Democrats in Virginia are certainly hoping he’ll do so, in a year in which the state will again be a key battleground in the presidential election.

Former Sen. George Allen, Tea party leader Jamie Radtke, and Hampton Roads Attorney David McCormick have all announced runs on the Republican side, with other potential GOP contenders including Del. Bob Marshall, R-Prince William, and Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart.
