Most voters view North Korea as the greatest immediate threat to the US: Poll

The majority of voters across the political spectrum believe North Korea poses the greatest immediate threat to the United States, according to a new poll.

The poll from NBC News and SurveyMonkey released Thursday found 53 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters, 53 percent of independents, and 55 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters think the rogue regime is the most immediate threat, more so than ISIS, Russia, China, and Iran.

Overall, 54 percent of Americans fear North Korea the most, compared to 41 percent who did so in July.

In dealing with North Korea, 64 percent of Americans believe the U.S. should use diplomacy, compared to 32 percent who favor a military response.

The White House has said all options are on the table for addressing Pyongyang, including a military option, but it’s one the Trump administration would rather not employ.

When it comes to President Trump’s handling of the current situation with the rogue regime, 56 percent of Americans disapprove, compared to 40 percent who approve.

The NBC News/SurveyMonkey National Security poll surveyed 5,047 adults from Oct. 13 to Oct. 17 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
