C-SPAN, Foursquare partner to educate tourists

Want to know how many steps the Washington Monument has?

D.C. tourists and residents now can use a social-networking tool to get information about some of the city’s political landmarks, such as the monument.

C-SPAN announced a partnership Tuesday with Foursquare, a location-based networking tool, that will provide educational tips about political locations to Foursquare users who “check in” at the buildings. Such locations include the U.S. Capitol, the White House and the Supreme Court.

Users can see more information and start following C-SPAN’s tips at foursquare.com/cspan.

Foursquare is a platform that lets the network provide “location-based information about politics, policy and government directly to the public,” C-SPAN co-president Rob Kennedy said.

By the way, the Washington Monument has 897 steps.
