AFI European Union Film Showcase at AFI Silver Theatre, through Tuesday
This is the 25th edition of the AFI European Union Film Showcase, and this year offers some great selections. The festival started on Nov. 9 and features more than 40 films. If you’ve missed the first week, don’t fret and gear up for this weekend. Highlights include “Hyde Park on Hudson,” starring Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and the animated film “Wrinkles,” with graphic novelist Paco Roca, whose work the film is based on, in attendance. Brew and Bourbon Classic at Laurel Park Saturday
Head to Laurel Park in Maryland for a day of beer, bourbon and thoroughbred racing at the inaugural Brew and Bourbon Classic. More than 60 beers and bourbons will be available trackside, as well as food trucks from D.C. and Baltimore, and live music from the Kelly Bell Band, the Cheaters and DJ Just K. Admission price gives you admission to the track, music, a souvenir glass for tasting, and parking.

Aretha Franklin at DAR Constitution Hall Saturday
Tickets still remain for Aretha Franklin, aka the Queen of Soul, at the DAR Constitution Hall. Legends of this stature don’t perform often. Lest we forget, the 70-year-old Franklin and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is the voice behind “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” “Think,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Lez Zeppelin at the State Theatre Saturday
The members of Led Zeppelin have sworn off all calls for a reunion, so this may be as good as it gets. But it gets pretty good. Lez Zeppelin is a renowned all-girl Led Zeppelin cover group. Give these kind women your all, and nothing more.

Founders Brewing Company 15th Anniversary Party at ChurckKey Sunday
