CNN host Jake Tapper said Hunter Biden’s work for a Ukrainian energy company at the same time his father was directing U.S. policy toward Ukraine “stinks.”
Tapper began a discussion about Hunter Biden and former Vice President Joe Biden with CNN contributor Mary Katharine Ham on his show Tuesday.
“Putting aside for one second, if we can, the president’s lies about this and the president’s behavior about this, the prosecutors have said there is no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing by Hunter Biden, but still the whole situation with him being on that board, that stinks,” Tapper said.
“It’s swampy,” Ham agreed. “I think [Hunter Biden] has admitted to that. He’s stepping down because it’s not a good story. [Joe Biden] doesn’t want to talk about it because it is not a good story.”
“There is something there,” Ham said.

Hunter Biden will step down from the board of a Chinese firm by the end of October and has pledged not to engage in any foreign business dealings during his father’s term as president if he wins.
House Democrats launched a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump over a CIA whistleblower’s complaint that alleged the president had withheld U.S. military aid from Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian investigators to look into potential corruption in the Biden’s dealings in the country.
Trump has released the transcript of the phone call in which the whistleblower alleged the quid pro quo deal was made.
