President Trump on Friday assured people that the federal government stands ready to respond to Hurricane Irma as it bears down on Florida.
“Hurricane Irma is of epic proportion, perhaps bigger than we have ever seen. Be safe and get out of its way,if possible. Federal G is ready!” Trump tweeted Friday morning.
Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard saved more than 15,000 lives last week with Harvey. Irma could be even tougher. We love our Coast Guard!

Trump has been releasing statements on Twitter all week about his readying the federal response to the giant storm.
“Hurricane Irma is raging but we have great teams of talented and brave people already in place and ready to help. Be careful, be safe! #FEMA,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.
Trump said Wednesday his federal officials are in Florida preparing for Hurricane Irma, which is expected to make landfall in South Florida on Sunday.
“Hurricane looks like largest ever recorded in the Atlantic!” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. “Watching Hurricane closely. My team, which has done, and is doing, such a good job in Texas, is already in Florida. No rest for the weary!”
Trump issued a state of emergency declaration in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands earlier this week. The storm has passed over Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is expected to make landfall over South Florida early Sunday.
