Mitt Romney applauds Michael Morell for resigning Harvard post after Chelsea Manning named visiting fellow

Mitt Romney praised former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell for stepping down as a senior fellow at Harvard University after the Ivy-League invited Chelsea Manning to be a visiting fellow at the Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics.

“Well done, Mike,” Romney tweeted Thursday. “And abject shame on Harvard.”

And abject shame on Harvard.

Manning is a former intelligence analyst for the U.S. Army, but was convicted in 2013 for violating the Espionage Act after she provided thousands of national security documents to WikiLeaks. She originally faced 35 years in prison, but President Obama commuted her sentence and she was released in May.

Romney is reportedly considering a run for Senate if Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, does not run for re-election in 2018.
