White House press secretary Sarah Sanders condemned the deadly shooting at a newspaper company in Annapolis, Md., as an “evil act of senseless violence.”
Sanders, who regularly feuds with members of the media during the daily White House press briefings, offered her sympathies to the victims and families of the shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis on Thursday and further declared it an “attack on every American.”

“Strongly condemn the evil act of senseless violence in Annapolis, MD,” she tweeted Thursday. “A violent attack on innocent journalists doing their job is an attack on every American. Our prayers are with the victims and their friends and families.”
At least five people were killed and several more were injured when a gunman opened fire at the Maryland newspaper on Thursday afternoon. A suspect was taken into custody, yet authorities have not yet released his identity, and his motive remains unclear at this time.
