What’s So Great About Community Organizers?

A reader E-mails:

How come Obama and co. keep touting the fact that he gave up a Wall Street or high-paying legal career to become a community organizer? A few things to consider: What do we have more of, black community organizers or high-powered blacks on Wall Street or the bar? Wouldn’t a guy like Obama be able to do more for his community by becoming wildly successful financially and a role model for hard work? Wouldn’t that give him even a greater leadership role in his community? I don’t get why being a community organizer is more valuable to the community than becoming a successful lawyer or businessman. Spurning Wall Street to join the military would have shown real sacrifice, but to be a two-bit community organizer? Weird.

Maybe ‘community organizer’ is how ‘soldier’ translates into liberal.
