Television and radio personality Charlamagne tha God praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s “genius” move of flying 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and claimed that Democratic leaders “don’t want immigrants here either.”
“I personally think it’s genius,” he said on last week’s episode of Comedy Central’s Hell of a Week with Charlamagne tha God.

“For months, Republican governors have sent busloads of illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities like New York, [Washington], D.C., and Chicago with the message of ‘If you like them so much, they’re yours,'” he began before complimenting DeSantis.
He further wished the governor “would give Democratic governors and mayors more of a heads-up, because then, that would expose the hypocrisy of the Democrats, which is they don’t want immigrants here either.”
Despite his praise of DeSantis, the host later agreed with a guest commentator who said the Republican governors are using illegal immigrants for “a political game.”
Last week, the governor sent 50 illegal immigrants on planes headed to Martha’s Vineyard voluntarily. The island, far from the border and home to wealthy residents, was rocked by the arrival.
The migrants were not long for the island, as they were quickly bused away to a Massachusetts military base within days.

DeSantis warned this isn’t the end of bringing the border to the Democratic strongholds that don’t have to bear the brunt of the lax policies they champion. “The legislature gave me $12 million. We’re going to spend every penny of that to make sure that we are protecting the people of the state of Florida,” he said.
