“so the NFC basically is an actual technology that has to be inherent in your phone, and if that’s enabled you can walk up to it and you just have to tap the location where it says NFC enabled phones tab here. It creates a direct connection with your phone and in this case takes you to the form to register to vote.”

” This basically fills the need of relevance and being able to do something immediately before forgetting it. So if you just see a sign commonly just see poster and then you leave two hours later, three hours later you may forget. Whereas here you can act upon it immediately and be able to register to vote in this case or get content or whatever it is when you’re interacting with the sign.”

STORYLINE:

In an effort to engage your voters to take part in this year’s election, Rock The Vote has turned to Near Field Communication technology to assist people in completing voter registration forms.

A new advertizing campaign being rolled out across the country is incorporating NFC-layered bus shelters, phone kiosks, taxi tops, and digital screens in high-visibility areas.

Mikhail Damiani, CEO and co-founder of Blue Bite says the use of NFC-embedded billboards will create a direct connection with your phone and a voter registration form.

Potential voters simply would touch their NFC-enabled cellphones to the advertisement to engage the voter registration form.

For smartphone users that do not have NFC chips on the device a QR code can be scanned for the same result.
