Trump: ‘Gee, I wonder why’ Biden wants a virtual convention

President Trump suggested that there is a questionable motive behind Joe Biden wanting to change how the Democratic National Convention is held.

“Joe Biden wanted the date for the Democrat National Convention moved to a later time period. Now he wants a ‘Virtual’ Convention, one where he doesn’t have to show up. Gee, I wonder why? Also, what ever happened to that phone call he told the Fake News he wanted to make to me?” Trump tweeted Monday.

Citing the coronavirus pandemic, Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, said Sunday that Democrats may have to have a virtual convention if the crisis is not under control by late summer. Biden had already nudged the Democratic National Committee to postpone its July convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until August, which it did.

Biden said Thursday he would be willing to speak with Trump about the pandemic after White House counselor Kellyanne Conway criticized the former vice president for not offering his assistance during the outbreak.

“Yesterday, the Trump administration suggested that I should call the president and offer to help. Well, I’m happy to hear he’ll take my call,” Biden said. “My team’s working with him to set such a call up, and I’ve been offering my advice and proposing policies for what I thought should be done for the last several weeks.”
