LOS ANGELES (AP) — Firefighters are rescuing a worker who became trapped among steel pipes in the hold of a cargo ship in the Port of Los Angeles.
Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the unidentified 57-year-old man fell 20 to 30 feet among the pipes shortly before noon Monday.
Humphrey says the man apparently has back and leg injuries but is conscious and alert.
Firefighters are in the process of removing the man nearly two hours after the first report of the entrapment aboard the Panamanian-flagged Navios Vector, a 623-foot-long bulk cargo vessel.
