The District is making it so the city’s public school students can put there transit subsidies on their D.C. One Cards.
The cards are already used by the District’s K through 12 students to access city buildings, recreation centers and libraries.
Starting this fall, D.C. will be phasing in a system that allows the students to apply for the discounts they receive to ride Metro and automoatically add them to the D.C. One Card, officials said Wednesday. Parents and teachers will also be able access information on when and where students have entered and exited the Metro system.
The first phase will start Aug. 16 and will apply to students at the following high schools: Ballou, Banneker, Cardozo, McKinley, School Without Walls, and Wilson.
