Hi Ed and Jeff,
Thanks again for your interest in my problem. I have finally had the motor mounts installed. The neighboring garage repair shop I referred to had a new manager who pursued the matter after I found the name of a supplier you had suggested. They eventually got them via United Parcel from that supplier that was located in Ohio. Now the muffler needs repair but I don’t think that should be a problem.
After all this I’m beginning to wonder if it was worth it as the repairs are beginning to seem endless. Thanks again for your interest. God bless you guys.
Nancy C.
Ed:
Hello again Nancy,
You brought up a good point in this letter, “After all this I’m beginning to wonder if it was worth it.” There comes a time with every automobile when each person asks this question. If the car is well maintained and starts to have failures that cost several hundred dollars each in a six-month period, it might be time to look for another vehicle.
Sometimes, it is better to stay with the repairs instead of a several-hundred-dollar payment every month. When the cost of needed repairs exceeds the worth of the vehicle, it is time to find something else.
Jeff: Hi Nancy, I am glad that the motor mounts worked out. I often wonder if the advice we have helps the people we intend it to help. I am glad that it did.
Without knowing what the future holds in store for you and your car, I cannot say to buy or not to buy that new car. However if you are interested in a new car, now may be the best time to buy. You have to remember though that even with a new car there will be normal maintenance expenses that come with it. Not just oil changes, but also timely replacement of other fluids and filters. Once-a-year alignments (or at least alignment checks), tire rotations, etc. … It all adds up in the long run. Plus now you have the additional expense of a car payment and most likely higher auto insurance for a while. So you must make that decision for yourself with all the information in front of you. If you do decide to buy a new car now, SHOP AROUND! There are more bargains out there to be had. Good luck!
