A majority of U.S. citizens believe the coronavirus pandemic is just beginning.
A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found 60% of U.S. citizens think the worst impact of the COVID-19 virus on the country is still on the horizon, while only 6% think the worst has passed. Another 31% said they don’t believe the outbreak will become a major issue.
Forty-one percent of respondents said they expect the pandemic to change their lives in a very or fairly major way while 17% didn’t anticipate any changes at all.
The poll was conducted March 11-13 with 900 registered voters and has a 3.27% margin of error.
President Trump held a White House news conference on Friday where he declared a national emergency as the pandemic has killed dozens in the United States and sickened at least 2,759 people. Confirmed cases have appeared in every state except for West Virginia.
The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a pandemic on Wednesday.
