Eric Holder identified as suspect in rapper Nipsey Hussle shooting

The suspect in the shooting of Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle has been identified as Eric Holder.

The 29-year-old’s identity caused a bit of confusion for some, as Holder has the same name as former President Barack Obama’s attorney general, who served from 2009 to 2015.

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a press release asking for the public’s assistance in searching for Holder, who officials say fired on Hussle and three other men Sunday outside of the rapper’s clothing store.

LAPD tweeted Tuesday: “Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100.”

Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Davidson Ashgedom, had his first studio album Victory Lap nominated for the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Hussle is also known for his single “Feelin’ Myself.”

Hussle’s death elicited an outpouring of support from fans and fellow musicians in the industry who offered their condolences over social media after the news broke about the 33-year-old rapper’s tragic death.
