Trump Calls Assassination of Russian Ambassador a ‘Violation of All Rules of Civilized Order’

President-elect Donald Trump said Monday night that the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey earlier that day in Ankara was the work of a “radical Islamic terrorist.”

“Today we offer our condolences to the family and loved ones of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov, who was assassinated by a radical Islamic terrorist,” said Trump in a statement. “The murder of an ambassador is a violation of all rules of civilized order and must be universally condemned.”

The assassin, who was killed by Turkish police at the scene of the murder, has been identified as a Turkish national and was employed as a policeman.
