Interim Chancellor Kaya Henderson wrote to District residents Tuesday to “reflect on all that we are thankful for at DCPS.”
On her list?
Our best educators were celebrated earlier this month with “A Standing Ovation for DC Teachers” at the Kennedy Center. Enrollment is up for the first time in 40 years as more families are choosing DC Public Schools. And together, the school system and DC community are continuing to turn around not just the public education system in the district, but the future of all our students!
Henderson acknowledged the pushback to the reforms her predecessor Michelle Rhee created with Henderson as deputy chancellor:
Change can be difficult, and the past month has presented many new challenges for us all. I am thankful for each of you and the hard work you do to support and encourage our students.
