A Michigan prosecutor says a jail inmate tried to poison serial stabbing suspect Elias Abuelazam, thought to have committed a series of attacks in three states, including Virginia, the Flint Journal reported.
The former Leesburg resident was arrested in August in connections with the stabbings that killed five people and wounded 13.
David Leyton, the Genesee County prosecutor, told the newspaper that an inmate tried to put oven cleaner in Abuelazam’s food. Leyton, wouldn’t release the inmate’s name, said the incident happened a while ago.
Abuelazam has been charged in Michigan with three counts of murder and six counts of assault with intent to murder. He has not been charged yet in Virginia with three Leesburg attacks.
