Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., alerted his constituents by mailer this week that he knows what rights we’re guaranteed by the Constitution: the right to show your bare limbs.
The Mica campaign mailer, which blanketed his Florida district, reads: “The right to bare arms. John Mica knows it’s our constitutional right.” More commonly defended by political types is the right to bear arms.
Campaign spokesperson Alan Byrd acknowledged the typo and clarified Mica’s position. “Let me just say that Congressman Mica strongly supports the second amendment,” Byrd told Yeas & Nays, “but he also supports the right of every American to wear short sleeves.” Byrd said that several people do proof campaign materials, but this one got away from them. “We’re all human,” he said.
