PHILADELPHIA — Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani slammed Democratic convention organizers for not holding a moment of silence Tuesday night for a Catholic priest in France who was brutally slain earlier in the day by Islamic State militants.
“I am in fact truly outraged and extremely disappointed that last night they couldn’t find a minute to have a silent prayer for the Catholic priest whose head was chopped off by Islamic extremist terrorists. Not even a minute?” the top Donald Trump supporter told reporters Wednesday afternoon.
Giuliani proceeded to name a number of terror attacks that have taken place recently across Europe and the Middle East.
“None of those attacks and the slaughter of a Catholic priest were mentioned on that stage last night,” he noted.
Democrats came under fire earlier this week after the first night of their convention concluded without a single speaker in a 61-person lineup mentioning the Islamic State or terrorism.
