Police: Murder-suicide in Loudoun

Authorities say a Sterling man shot and killed his wife before fatally shooting himself early Tuesday morning.

Larry E. Perry, 64, killed his wife, 61-year-old Mercedes K. Perry, inside their home on the 800 block of South Birch Street, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. He then shot himself. Police found him outside the home near a garage.

The couple was having financial problems and and Mercedes Perry was suffering from a serious health condition, said Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators believe those issues precipitated the shooting, he said.

Troxell said he wasn’t aware of any past reports of domestic violence.

Mercedes Perry’s mother was in the home at the time of the shooting. She was unharmed and is with other family members, Troxell said.

The shooting was reported at about 6 a.m.
