Klink guilty in brawl death

The Columbia high school wrestling champion accused of killing another student with a baseball bat pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter Tuesday in Howard Circuit Court. Kevin Klink, 19, of the 6800 block of Allview Drive in Columbia, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter and a dangerous weapon charges.

The agreement, which was reached late Friday, binds Howard Circuit Court Judge Lenore Gelfman to sentence Klink to 13 years in prison. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb. 26 in Howard Circuit Court, said Wayne Kirwan, spokesman for the State?s Attorney?s Office.

Klink swung an aluminum bat at Robert Brazell?s head during a brawl at Mount Hebron High School on Feb. 24, 2007. Brazell, 17, was airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma and died the next day.

Klink held at the Howard County Detention Center.
