Rockville teen lands on ‘Jeopardy’

A Montgomery County high school student was selected to compete in this year’s “Jeopardy!” Teen Tournament. His name is Raynell Cooper —  oops, “Who is Raynell Cooper?”

Cooper is a senior at Richard Montgomery High School and is one of 15 players selected to rabble in this year’s tournament — he’s made it to the finals, which air March 1 and March 2. Cooper’s hoping to win enough money to pay for his dream college — George Washington University — where he wants to study geography, political science or urban planning.

And whatever’s leftover? “To a nice car,” Cooper told “Jeopardy!”

Cooper already beat out two teens from Arizona and Florida in the quarter-finals and will go head-to-head for two nights with Raya Elias-Pushett from Aventura, Fla., and Kailyn LaPorte from Decatur, Ga. Check out Cooper’s contestant video and get ready to root for the home team.
