Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez said voters are ready to “move forward” after former interim DNC head Donna Brazile revealed “proof” that the Hillary Clinton’s campaign had made inroads to take over the DNC during the 2016 campaign.
“I’m working hard to make sure we build a party that works for everyone, that unites everyone and we’ve seen the party coming together in places like Virginia,” Perez told Fox News host Bret Baier on Tuesday.
Brazile cited “proof” in her new book, Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House, on an agreement she discovered between two Clinton campaign funds and the DNC, in which money would be exchanged for control over DNC finances and strategy.
The allegations in her book have opened up a fresh rift within the party, upsetting some who had supported Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the primary, while others have called on the party not to re-litigate the 2016 election.
“[I] haven’t gotten one question about Donna Brazile,” Perez said. “What I’ve gotten from voters is unity. They want to move forward … As for me at the DNC, I’m all about making sure we do everything, every day to earn the trust of our voters.”
