‘Art of the Deal’ co-author: ‘No way’ Trump donates money to Harvey victims

The co-author of President Trump’s 1987 book The Art of the Deal predicted Friday that Trump would not make good on his pledge to donate $1 million to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“No way Trump donates $1m of own money to Harvey victims. He only promises to give. Never actually does,” Tony Schwartz tweeted Friday.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters Thursday the president pledged $1 million of his personal money to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, but Sanders said the president thought the press should suggest charities to receive the money.

Schwartz also predicted that special counsel Robert Mueller, who is overseeing the investigation into alleged ties between Trump campaign officials and Russia, will find out Trump is worth far less than he asserts.

“One thing Mueller will likely find: Trump is worth VASTLY less than he says. More debt, less cash. He’s desperate not to have that exposed,” Schwartz tweeted.

Schwartz made his claim after the Daily Beast reported Thursday that Mueller is now working with agents from the IRS’s Criminal Investigations unit. The team of agents from the IRS focuses on financial crime, including tax evasion and money laundering.

Mueller and his team are also working with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman as part of its investigation into financial crimes potentially perpetrated by Paul Manafort, the former campaign chairman for the Trump campaign, Politico reported Thursday.
