Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is slated to campaign for GOP Senate hopeful Adam Laxalt in Nevada next week as the Republicans ramp up their efforts to flip the majority in November.
The governor, who is seen as a top presidential contender for the 2024 election cycle, will appear alongside the Trump-endorsed candidate at a rally in Las Vegas set to take place on April 27. It’s a relatively rare campaign swing outside of Florida for DeSantis, who has aligned himself with former President Donald Trump and taken aim at “woke” culture.
Laxalt, the former attorney general of Nevada, is attempting to unseat Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto in the purple state.

DeSantis, who previously campaigned with Laxalt in Palm Beach, Florida, in December, praised the candidate’s military experience and touted him as a “conservative fighter.”
“I served in the Navy with Adam, and I can tell you that he won’t back down when it comes to standing for liberty and for what’s right by our great nation,” DeSantis said. “He proved it as Nevada’s attorney general, and he’ll prove it again as your next senator. That is why I am proud to support Adam Laxalt in his race to flip the Nevada seat this year and help us win back control of the U.S. Senate.”

Laxalt is the grandson of former Nevada governor and Sen. Paul Laxalt, who was a confidante of President Ronald Reagan. Adam Laxalt was the state’s attorney general from 2015 to 2019, but he lost a gubernatorial bid in 2018.
On Wednesday, Laxalt thanked DeSantis for his support in the race, praised his tenure as governor, and asserted he would push for similar policies.
“America needs conservatives who are willing to go on offense to fight the radicals who are trying to indoctrinate our children, open our borders, and sacrifice our safety,” Laxalt said. “Gov. DeSantis is such a conservative, and I’m proud to have his support in this crucial fight for Nevada’s future.”
DeSantis is also up for reelection this year, with three Democrats (Rep. Charlie Crist, who was governor from 2007 to 2011; Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried; and state Sen. Annette Taddeo) vying to take him on in November.
