Slain Takoma Park bank robber identified Montgomery County police identified a bank robber who was shot and killed by police as he tried to flee a Takoma Park Capitol One Bank on Friday.

Police said 43-year-old Carlos Rudolfo Espinoza Arcia of Hyattsville grabbed a female bank employee and used her as a shield as he left the bank. As he ran with the hostage, a dye pack exploded, Arcia slipped on some ice and the hostage broke free. Arcia chased her with his gun drawn and was gunned down by police.

Missing woman found alive but dies at hospital

A 77-year-old Fairfax woman who had gone missing from her son’s Gaithersburg home was found alive seven hours later, only to die in the hospital.

Addie Marie Brown went missing around 3:30 a.m. Sunday from the 400 block of Bryan Avenue in Gaithersburg. She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and was not dressed for the cold weather, authorities said. Police launched a search and found her around 10 a.m. Sunday on a walking path behind Gaithersburg High School. She was taken to a nearby hospital but died around 11:30 a.m. Sunday from exposure to the cold.

Alexandria police seek witness to hit-and-run

Alexandria Police are looking for a man who they believe witnessed a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead.

Melbourne Clyde Leach Jr., 26, was killed while crossing King Street in Alexandria a little after 12 a.m. on Jan. 21.

Police said Monday that they’re looking for a witness they described as a black man between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet fall with a cleanly shaven head. He was dressed in a dark suit with white shirt and dark tie. Anyone with information on the case should call Alexandria police at 703-838-4444.
