Who: Florence City Council members Billy D. Williams and Ed Robinson
What: Racked up combined travel expenses of $62,584.93 in the past two years, compared with a total of $13,046.83 for all other council members during the same period. They claim credit for bringing millions of dollars in federal funds to Florence.
Why it’s an outrage: These numbers clearly violate an already existing resolution passed in 1997 capping travel expenses at $2,000 per member per fiscal year. In fact, Robinson wrote it. Going to Washington to load up on pork is no excuse.
