A 67-year-old Baltimore woman battling colon cancer is pleading for the public?s help in finding the man who she says molested her while she was undergoing dialysis treatment.
Baltimore police have issued an arrest warrant for Malcon Jones, a nurse technician at the dialysis center where Elizabeth Adams received treatment May 26. While cleaning around her catheter, Jones caressed Adams? breast and asked her, ?Does that feel good?? according to police.
As she left the treatment center affiliated with Union Memorial Hospital, Adams said Jones forcefully grabbed her buttocks.
“I want him arrested so he won?t do it to no one else,” Adams said. “You never forget this.”
Adams and her husband, Leroy, also filed a $4 million suit against Jones and Randallstown-based Independent Technicians Inc., a temp agency for dialysis professionals. The suit alleges severe mental trauma and fear of retaliation if she complained.
“Mrs. Adams and her husband are filing a lawsuit because you have a frail senior citizen at her most vulnerable,” said her attorney, David Ellin. “She was sexually assaulted by a person who she put her absolute trust and faith in.”
Jones has been charged with third- and fourth-degree sex offenses as well as second-degree assault.
Officials at Union Memorial, which is not named in the suit, said Jones never returned to the center on the 3300 block of Guilford Avenue after Adams? allegation. Spokeswoman Debra Schindler declined to make additional comments, citing patient confidentiality laws and the pending litigation.
A woman who answered the phone at Independent Technicians declined to comment before hanging up. Ellin said the company has not been very cooperative in the investigation.
Leroy Adamssaid the incident still haunts his wife.
“This is still in her subconscious mind,” he said. “I hope they find him and prosecute him to the fullest extent.”
