FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police say a teenager suffered minor injuries when the van he was driving rammed a trooper’s vehicle and then overturned during a chase on Interstate 95.
State police spokesman Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar says the chase began shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Caroline County/Spotsylvania County line when troopers saw the van and tried to stop it.
Troopers had been searching for the van following a hit-and-run accident on I-95.
Molnar says one trooper’s vehicle ran off the road and hit a guardrail when the van tried to ram it. The van rammed a second trooper’s vehicle and then overturned.
The 15-year-old male driver was taken to Mary Washington Hospital. No troopers were injured.
Molnar says the van was reported stolen in Chesterfield County.
Charges are pending.
